Laser Hair Removal vs. Waxing
Most of us have tried a variety of methods to get rid of unwanted body hairs but what is the most effective? Of all the methods available to remove hair, majority of us usually pick the one that has the longest effect and also hurts the least. Laser hair removal vs. waxing hair removal treatments are two of the most widely used methods that have the longest effect.
What is Laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a laser with different light wave lengths. The laser system gives off a beam of light that is able to pass through our skin to our hair follicles wherein it is absorbed by the hair. When the hair absorbs the beam, the beam becomes a hot source of heat that damages the follicles resulting to a slow growth of hair. Sessions usually reach up to 3 to 6 treatments to get best results while other patients need to have 6 to 8 treatments.
How is Hot wax hair removal done?
A combination of wax is poured on the skin and is spread out to cover the area you want to treat. A cloth strip is then placed on top of the wax and ripped off quickly to remove the wax with the unwanted hair and dead skin cells attached to it. What’s left is clean and smooth skin. This treatment is usually effective for 3 to 8 weeks before the hair starts to grow again but finer than the previous growth.
Our technology is developing at a fast rate and so are our hair removal treatments. The newest trend for hair removal procedures is to get a long lasting result with as little pain as possible and it should be within the budget. There are already a couple of treatments available on the market and the newest and the least known to us is the laser treatment. All we know is that it does have longer effect compared to other treatments but most doctors aren’t sure if they are 100% safe to use. Although a session is a bit expensive, people still undergo this treatment because of the longer results. This treatment is not advisable for people who have dark skins and for those who are tanned but have light hair. The best candidates for this treatment are those who have hair darker than their skin.
Hot wax on the other hand is a treatment that is significantly more affordable than the laser treatment and has a longer effect compared to other methods like shaving. The best thing about this method is that the root hairs are also removed which results to a clean and smooth finish. Another plus for hot wax treatment is that the hair grows back thinner, sparse, and lighter than the previous growth. This treatment can be used by everyone due to its affordability and availability. Although hot wax treatment is quite popular among the mass, some don’t prefer this method due to side effects like severe skin irritation, ingrown hairs, appearance of bumps, and unusual swelling. This method should be done by a professional to avoid pain and irritation during the procedure.
