A chemical peel is a substance that is applied to your face.  It can be in the form of Alpha Hydroxy acid,  Trichloroacetic acid, Phenol, Retinoic or Trichloroacetic acid.  Depending on what you want to correct will determine which component will work the best for you.  Some of the chemicals that are used are purported to smooth wrinkles, permanently get rid of freckles, remove blemishes, correct pigmentation problems and others. These changes can make a huge difference in the lives of the individual.  The procedures for the peels are different.

There are several stages of pain depending on which peel you choose. Some of the peels are very simple and the only side effect is stinging. Others may require pain pills and the most deep of peels requires anesthesia.  As with any kind of plastic procedure, one has to consider the risks versus the rewards.  The risks have the be factored in because plastic surgery costs contain more than just the financial price of surgery. What kind of benefit are you looking for? Are you willing to go under anesthesia to achieve the physical look you want to gain? These are the questions you have to answer for yourself.
